Hello everyone,
I’ve been reading about U4GM offering Dune: Awakening items for sale, and while I understand the appeal, I wanted to raise some concerns about how this could affect game balance and fairness.
Effects on game balance:
Buying items (especially rare weapons, vehicles, or schematics) can give some players a significant shortcut over others who are playing “legitimately.” This could lead to large disparities in PvP encounters or territory control, especially in contested areas where power matters. If someone shows up with top gear bought rather than earned, it changes the dynamics.
Potential for negative community impact:
- May discourage players who don’t want to buy items — they may feel they’ll always be behind.
- Could foster “pay‑to‑win” perceptions, which might reduce overall player satisfaction or retention.
- Also, if many players use item vendors, the in‑game economy might be distorted (resource scarcity, price inflation of certain blueprints, etc.).
What U4GM claims:
They advertise lowest prices, fast delivery (5‑10 minutes in some cases), and safe transactions. They also have boosting services (crafting, dungeon runs) that involve pro players helping you get loot. While these can be convenient, it’s important to consider the broader implications.
What could be done / what to check:
- Devs could enforce caps on how much advantage purchased items provide.
- Transparency from sellers and clarity in the game’s rules about what’s allowed or disallowed.
- Players should check community forums and official policy to avoid unintentionally doing something that may violate Terms of Service.
I’m interested in hearing from people who have tested this: does the benefit from bought items feel balanced, or does it feel “too much”? Also, how do guilds respond — do they accept players who use purchased gear equally, or is there stigma?
